The four fundamental market association structures are flawless rivalry, restraining infrastructure, monopolistic rivalry, and oligopoly. As Keynes portray, a financial stage is gathered of pattern of astounding arrangement with expanding costs and high business rates, trailed by times of horrendous exchange with lessening costs and high joblessness extent. (Vengedasalam, 2007) Business cycle is broken ascents and decreases in phase of exchange and industry. A downturn is a phase of decrease in entire creation, benefits and work. This downturn, which keeps going a half year or further, is set apart by the notable decrease of creation action in various parts of the economy. A downturn is as a rule followed by a recuperation and advancement, a period where genuine GDP, salary, and work develop as appeared in figure 1.1(refer to informative supplement). (Campbell R., 2010) At the point when we talk about expanding or contracting, we imagine changes in the target proportion of merchandise and enterprises created. Be that as it may, the target amount of creation is practically unfeasible to quantify. So we measure the volume of creation by its market cost, not by its physical volume. Since costs contrast starting with one year then onto the next, GDP measuring sticks must be balanced planned for swelling. Expect that starting with one year then onto the next all costs multiplied. So unadjusted evaluate of ostensible GDP would give us a bogus investigation, we may think creation was speeding forward when in established truth it was situated still. (Schiller, 2009) In viewpoint toward the Malaysian economy, these are the effect of the business cycle for as far back as three years 2009, 2010, 2011 and the outcomes looked by the legislature. In the year 2009, Bank Negara Malaysia has kept up a protection advance to financial approach. Beforehand in 2008, cost increments was climbing a direct result of the snappy and impressive raise in arrangements and force costs. The OPR, however, was left unaffected. The estimation of the Bank was that the food and vitality cost increments were immensely gracefully decided. Expanding loan fees underneath these conditions would have a fractional crash in containing swelling. This was the significant thought inside the appraisal to keep up financing costs despite the fact that attestations that the Bank ought to have strictest fiscal arrangement. Though family unit request conditions be genuinely stable, the thorough die down in sends out, and the discouraged financial perspective for many of Malaysias principle exchange partners foreordained that significant system keep up would be required to maintain a strategic distance from the economy from inflowing a profound and broadened downturn. With swelling decelerating, Bank Negara Malaysia frontloaded the loan cost slices to diminish the market from a quick declining universal economy. Overnight Policy Rate (OPR) its concentrated by the Bank by an aggregate of 150 premise focuses starting from November 2008 to February 2009 to 2% as appeared in graph 1.1(refer to reference section). During a situation position, financing cost deduct with themselves are not palatable. Some relating strategies were likewise acquired to accomplish specific parts of the budgetary framework. In this manner, just as diminishing paces of premium, the Bank other than presented a measure of enduring an onslaught methodology toward reach to financing, temporary extension of security net, insurance the expense of thriving and genuine benefits of contributors and reducing incredibly exposed borrowers beginning the total impact of the catastrophe. Blindness Is Defined - Free Essay Example
Blindness is defined as the lack of perception, awareness, and ignorance one might endure during a time of uncertainty. The novel Invisible Man by Ralph Ellison, illustrates the narrators journey in discovering his own identity in society as an African American male. His invisibility is manifested by the many cultures in the community that are blind to the ability of seeing real nature and beauty within a human being. The narrator is also blinded by the notions that society has instilled into him on how one should present themselves. He encounters characters throughout his journey blinding him or removing the veil from his eyes that the people have bestowed upon him. In the end, he realizes that other peoples limitations of vision restrict his ability to act. As a whole, the narrator and society are conjointly blinded by Americas false perception of social class. One of the characters the narrator comes across that blinds him is Dr. Bledsoe. Bledsoe is the president of the college he attended and became his mentor in the beginning of the novel. The narrator was intrigued about Bledsoes notions and ideas as he had the same beliefs as his grandfather. They both believed that one should agree and follow what white people say because they are probably right and to not cause any problems. Bledsoe believes the less African Americans confront the issues, the more power will be given to their community. The only ones I even pretend to please are big white folks, and even those I control more than they control me. This is a power set-up, son, and Im at the controls. You think about that. When you buck against me, youre bucking against power, rich white folks power, the nations powerwhich means government power! ( Ellison 97). His ignorance guided him to believe that following what the white man says will lead to success because they are always right. Essentially, this is how Bledsoe became president of the school, due to agreeing with white men. He gives that advice to the narrator, but it didnt serve him any justice. This lead to Bledsoe becoming a key contributor to the narrators blindness of his identity. By instilling the mindset to agree with people in order to climb higher on the socio economic status creates the concept of blindness of the narrators own aspirations in life. Bledsoe blinded the narrators ability to create new inventions and ideas to help him stand out and really make a change in the community. He also blinded the narrators views on the African American culture and created animosity towards his own kind. This is one factor the narrator is blind to society and his own ideas. Another key patron that blinded the narrator is Brother Jack, who directed the brotherhood. He discovers the narrator after he gave a speech to a group of angry people and was impressed with his speaking ability. Jack offers him housing and food in return of joining the brotherhood. Little did the narrator know he was being used to display the fame of the brotherhood that would be soon used to flourish their ideology. Brother Jack believes that African Americans need to be told what to do and think by the white people. His literal blindness also serves as a symbol due to his flawed vision of the African American community. This is also ironic that the narrator follows a person who is literally and figuratively blind, which influences the narrator to also be blind, perpetuating negative perceptions of African Americans. Brother Jacks literal blindness symbolizes his ignorant conception of African Americans. He stripped the narrators identity by replacing his name, ideas, and his life back home. That is your new name, Brother Jack said. Start thinking of yourself by that name from this moment. Get it down so that even if you are called in the middle of the night you will respond. Very soon you shall be known by it all over the country. You are to answer to no other, understand?(Ellison 133). Without warning, he was given a task to be someone else, yet he never truly found himself while living his normal life. This created the narrator to become blind to the new notions of how brother Jack expected him to be. Lastly, the narrator contributed to his own blindness, by not staying true to his own beliefs and letting people dictate his own future. In the beginning of the novel, the narrator was blinded to the customs African Americans had and didnt take part in any traditions. He let society influence his behavior to not be proud of his culture. He was set up to be blind during his early stages of life from the beliefs and notions of his grandfather. Being blind at a young age made the narrator be comfortable with following other peoples ideology, making him an easy target for people with influence. And my problem was that I always tried to go in everyones way but my own. I have also been called one thing and then another while no one really wished to hear what I called myself(Ellison 253). The narrator made a choice to listen to society and ultimately blinded himself by following what people told him. His blindness lead to him obtaining a weak mentality and created an opening for people to take control of his mind. I was looking for myself and asking everyone except myself questions which I, and only I, could answer. It took me a long time and much painful boomeranging of my expectations to achieve a realization everyone else appears to have been born with: That I am nobody but myself (Ellison 303). He went through an ongoing cycle of people telling him what he can and cannot do. By listening to others, the narrator continues to be oppressed by societys notions about African Americans. In conclusion, blindness is the lack of awareness to ones state of mind. Throughout the novel the narrator faces many challenges within himself and the community that dictate his role in society. Essentially, he lives his life for the people more than himself. His lack of knowledge as a kid resulted in a life of confusion of his own identity. He comes across ignorant characters that lead him into a life of uncertainty about who he truly is.. All together, the narrator and the community are both blinded by their own false awareness of societys system.

How Robert Louis Stevenson Builds and Maintains a Sense of Mystery and Suspense in Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde Robert Louis Stevenson wrote Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde in 1886 after waking from a dream in which he recalled a fine bogy tale. The book was published in the same year and its likes had never been seen before. It gave a chilling insight into the murky depths of both experimental science and the duality of the human mind. These two fields of study were both in their infancy at the time so the novel was delving into the unknown, which instantly creates mystery about the text, this was the key to the success of the book, in my opinion. In the writing of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde Stevenson set a standard†¦show more content†¦He knew that with each year science was advancing further and further into the control of genetics and it is my opinion that he used his novel as a warning as to what he believed could happen should we become too fond of playing God. It only takes one step too far before you cant go back, as Jekyll discovers in the book and as scientists are beginning to discover in the twenty first century. The novel is based strongly on a theme of discovering the unknown and exploring the hidden self. Jekyll is held in high regard by his peers and begins to feel trapped by the constant expectations he is forced to conform to, he longs to walk amongst those who carouse and womanise in the name of good fun and high spirits and be excepted as one of them. Yet he still wishes to reap the rewards of a powerful social standing. In short, he craves the best of both worlds. He fulfils his needs in the concoction of a draught that changes his mental and physical state to that of Mr Edward Hyde, a foul and loathsome being with no care or love of the purity of the soul or well being of his fellow man, a being often described as Satan like. As he spends more and more time in the savage world of Hyde, Jekyll begins to lose control and finds himself changing when his mind is most vulnerable, when he is asleep. The experience of going to sleep as one person and

Offering employee benefits is one way a company must competes in today’s marketplace to retain old employees and attracts new ones. These benefit packages may range from offering basic health insurance to additional discretionary and perk benefits such as vacation and retirement packages. Benefit packages are often a large portion of employee costs and Federal mandates require an employer to carry and offer certain benefits even if they offer nothing else. Federally required employee benefits make up approximately a quarter of the costs associated with employer offered benefit packages. Critical Thinking and Decision Making Essay Example For Students
Critical Thinking and Decision Making Essay Critical Thinking 1CRITICAL THINKING AND DECISION MAKINGCritical Thinking and Decision-Making PaperCritical Thinking 2AbstractCritical thinking and decision-making are related in more ways than people think. This paper will define critical thinking and decision-making according to the book Whatever It Takes. It will also present a personal definition of critical thinking and decision-making from the author of this paper. The relationship between the two will be explained as well as the benefits of being a critical thinker. The author of this paper will also show how critical thinking is present in his organization and how he implements critical thinking techniques on a daily basis. Critical Thinking 3 Critical Thinking and Decision Making Paper The relationship between critical thinking and decision-making is much closer than what most people think. Once you look at the meanings of critical thinking and decision-making individually then you can see the relationship between them. What is critical thinking? Encarta Pocket Dictionary defines critical thinking as a type of critical analysis. Encarta Pocket Dictionary defines a decision as firmness in choosing something. The authors of Whatever It Takes suggest that decision-making material and literature tend to emphasize the product of decision-making but does not emphasize the actual process of decision-making. Critical thinking is the mechanical process by which problems are perceived, alternative solutions weighed, and rational decisions are made and decision-making is streams of choices (McCall, Kaplan, xv). Personally, I feel critical thinking means to analyze the particular situation you are involved in and apply facts or life experiences into your decision-making. The fact that I involve life experiences in my decision making process moves away from critical thinking because some life experiences involve emotions or that gut feeling. Critical thinking is examining assumptions not simply accepting arguments and conclusions at face value. Critical thinking is looking for hidden values, evaluating evidence and assessing multiple conclusions. I feel decision-making is an action. It is the destination of logical and analytical problem solving which is based in fact. Once the destination is reached, action in taken according to the resolution reached. Decision-making is the product of critical thinking. I believe that critical thinking and decision-making are inter-twined because you cant have one without the other. When you are trying to decide on something, you begin a Critical Thinking 4 critical thinking process. During this process, one evaluates information on a given problem. The process of reaching logical conclusions, solving problems, analyzing factual information, and taking appropriate actions based on the conclusions are called decision-making. While critical thinking and decision-making are interrelated and rely on one another, they are also independent. Critical thinking does not guarantee that a decision will be made and decisions can be made without processing information logically. There are benefits to being a critical thinker. It allows you to process problems or information in a systematical and logical fashion. It also allows you to come to the best decision available given the current information. When used properly it can save valuable time in reaching decisions because it eliminates useless information from being considered. This helps to organize thoughts and information to be presented in an organized fashion by the critical thinker. My occupation as a computer technician affords me the opportunity to think critically each day. Critical thinking allows me make decisions based on fact rooted in logic. I can reach solutions for computer related problems by asking the users logical questions. Using the critical thinking process, allows the users answers to lead to the next question I ask them. This process helps me do my job in a quick and orderly fashion. The account of St.Paul's ill-fated journey to Rome Essay Critical thinking also allows the company as a whole to collaborate and solve issues as a group. Everyone gets to add their input to the discussions and the critical thinking process allows everyone to weigh the input and decide on the best approach for given situations. Critical thinking is very prevalent in my organization, if it wasnt, we wouldnt be able to be in the computer repair business. Critical Thinking 5 References Kaplan, Robert E. and Morgan W. Electronic Commerce Environment
Question: Identify the basic elements of the technology infrastructure used to conduct electronic business. Explain the basic communications and network concepts used in electronic commerce and the basic functioning of the Internet and the World Wide Web. Outline the considerations for marketing on the World Wide Web and creating an effective Web presence. Use technology and information resources to research issues in fundamentals of e-business. Write clearly and concisely about fundamentals of e-business using proper writing mechanics.? Answer: Overview The concept of e-commerce and e-retailing is the most hyped and trendiest business function in todays era. It is particularly effective in reaching a global market and conduct a huge amount of business in a faster yet hassle free way. Our Company JSB Apparels is located at the Jersey Shore Boardwalk. It is a young fashion brand that is now available online to target the American market and consists of all the latest functions to provide the customers unique online shopping experience. It is now a question of ethical dilemma as Mr. X offered $ 1000 to buy the domain name that brings a lot of cyber ethics issues that might hamper the store reputation and the business in general. Also, a marketing strategy has to devise to achieve the greatest sales through the online portal and promote the web presence. Ethical Dilemmas Internet and E-commerce provide the Company with a dynamic presence. The products are advertised, sold and paid electronically without their need for a human being to conduct the process. Since the World Wide Web is a large network, the website or e-commerce site is exposed to thousands of people around the world. This information is available at almost no cost, and it can update instantly. But this exposure and openness puts the company in a vulnerable position as people with knowledge of technologies could utilize the opportunity to commit crimes and use it for selfish reasons. Hence when considering the concept of selling the domain name to a person, the process comprises a whole lot of negative implications (Chen, 2009). The Domain name signifies what the site is supposed to do. It is a short description of Company, and the company has already derived much success and recognition through the existing domain name. Selling it would mean providing an opportunity to use that domain name and the popularity of the site to drive success from ones own business. Other ethical and moral implications are web spoofing, cybersquatting, privacy invasion, online piracy and email spamming (Pwebs.net, 2015). The unethical use of domain name to conduct fraudulent activities or extort money is a common practice. Trademark is infringed, and personal and financial detail of the customers is also obtained. Spamming degrades the company image. All of these amounts to a loss of reputation and huge financial loss. Hence, companies like JSB Apparels must take actions to prevent or protect the software from any kind of ethical harm (Hess, 2003). Assigning of copyright, suing under the Anticybersquatting Consumer Protection Act (1999), generating hacking alerts or buying of new domain and changing of website names are some strategies to adopt prevention and protection. Also, companies must take a new marketing activity to promote the original website and remove any allegations through honest public relation activities. Functions of the e-commercial site The website provides some of functions that each possesses an inherent quality to provide the customers with a unique experience, ease of shopping and convenience. This function not only makes the software more usable and productive but also benefits and helps the customer and creates a reputation for the company (Laudon Traver, 2002). The catalogue display showcases all the products and variants that are available, and customers can check out the items and compare the prices. They can also see the description of design and material. These way customers do not have to visit a lot of stores and can easily understand what the company offers and can thus save their choices or directly buy it. Companies can exhibit a wide number of products to a wide number of people simultaneously. Hence, time and labour is to be saved by individuals who exhibits and helps out the customers in making their choices at the physical store (Kim, 2012). The shopping cart is virtual, and one can add as much item as one wants to. It does not require the physical labour of dragging the cart and customers could easily visit the shopping card and remove items and add new ones or even replace. Also, as soon one add an item to the cart the price required to be paid is displayed which saves a lot of time and the customers could assess their budget easily. Hence, these companies are not burdened with customer queries and exchange of items or replacing of products. The traffic at the cash counter can also beavoided. The transaction process is virtual, and the software does the calculation process. A receipt is automatically generated which is authentic and secures both the seller and the customer. It is easy for the company to count the sales keep tracks of the transactions. Other features like verification mark make sure that the website is authentic customers feel it safe to shop from it. Saving options, tracking options are featured that help the customers to keep a tab on the product and buy the items only when they can afford it. Also, they could track the orders. This way the company gains consumer trust and can utilize it for market expansion and retaining sales. Improving Web Presence A company must possess web presences that it does not lose out on a large source of profit. With the advancement in the field of internet marketing and people flocking into the worldwide and conducting various searches it is essential that the website is popular and known among the people so that they can avail its service. This website must be attractive, productive and easy to use so that it generates more customer presence and eventually sales. Hence, there is a need for improvement of the website to achieve web presence (MacDonald, 2009). The tactics that is to be applied is first buying an available, authentic, non-ambiguous domain name. Then one must purchase a hosting service. Next it is the task of assigning a web designer who will create a professional yet attractive website and add features. The usability of the websites should be ensured. This means that there should be neat and clean graphic and layout for easy navigation. A path must be provided to the visitors to follow. Next keywords are to be chosen to conduct Search Engine Optimization so that the link of the web address readily appears on search (Meng, 2010). Security and Privacy is another factor that must be kept in mind and hence the website must be verified and carry a verification mark (McAfee Secure or VeriSign) to convince visitors. Use of Google analytics will provide the number of website visits. Another essential factor is offering a clear checkout option so that customers find the whole process gradual simplified steps and can easily move out of options. This would ensure repeat visit and will create the desired web presence. Web marketing strategy To gain an advantage of the website usability and ensure web presence, a web marketing strategy has to be applied. It will ensure that the potential and extent customers of the company are reached through the e-commerce site (Janoschka, 2004). The Target Audience The target audience is the youth and the middle-aged. The two segments will have moderate disposable income and would love shopping. It would be bulk purchase and they might or might not be brand loyal. Segment 1- they are between 14 to 30 years of age. Survives on pocket money or own earnings. Loves to shop and might or might not be brand loyal. Segment 2- they are between 20 to 30 years of age. They have their disposable income. They also love to shop a verity of clothes. They do not believe in a bulk purchase but are quite brand loyal. These segments are to be reached through direct mails on existing customers e-mail ids or advertising on the social media sites like Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest and Twitter. Advertisements can also be provided through Television as this are media options to which the segments are, most exposed for a long period. Web advertisements The websites could be linked to other directories or with partner companies. Blogs, articles and social media are also sources of a link through which one can directly go to the website. Submitting an online Press release is effective in letting the people know about the website or any changes. Google ad words and pop ups or pop downs are relevant web advertisement options that can be widely used by JSB Apparels. This would also help in studying the number of visits or gain from the pay-per-clicks . Conclusion The e-commerce sector is one of the most beneficial sectors but one must be aware of the ethics and legal obligations of running an e-commerce website. Also the website must be developed with updated software that holds multiple features to provide usability to the customers. It is essential to build a web presence and create user-friendly functions to provide a unique experience and generate effective sales. Hence there is need of advertising the e-commerce store in TV and on the internet as well to foster the growth of JSB Apparel. References Chen, C. (2009). The Demarcation Issue free essay sample
The boundary between science and pseudo science, better known as the demarcation issue has been in debate for decades between philosophers of science in order to find the basis on which this separation can exist. The likes of Karl Popper initially introduced the demarcation criterion called falsificationism which states that falsifiability is the logical possibility that an assertion can be shown false by an observation or a physical experiment[l] and it was on this beginning that Popper was able to make the distinctive separation of science from pseudoscience. However f Poppers approach was taken into consideration, many scientific discoveries would have been impoverished, since the theory behind the discovery would have been deemed a pseudoscience due to the lack of proof and experimentation supporting it. Paul Thagard, Imre Lakatos and Thomas Kuhn are some of the strongest opponents of the model of falsificationism. Poppers demarcation has been critisized for its disregard for legitimate science and for allowing pseudoscience the eminence of a science. We will write a custom essay sample on The Demarcation Issue or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page This essay contrasts the ideologies of Karl Popper with the 3 philosophers ith regards to certain scientific discoveries which consequently reveal the inadequacy of falsificationism as a demarcation criterion. Karl Popper described the demarcation problem as the key to most of the fundamental problems in the philosophy of science. [2]The scientific revelation that contradicts Poppers proposal is Isaac newtons concept of gravity. Gravity through newtons explanation is an invisible, mass less, attractive force between objects that have mass. [3] It is what keeps humans on earth and the earths orbiting of the sun. With regards to Popper he theory of gravity is in fact a pseudoscience since it is simply a question of how can one undergo a physical experiment or observation in which newtons theory of gravitation can be refuted? The lack of proof to support this theory is the principle of Poppers disregard to gravitation as a scientific discovery. On the contrary, Paul Thagard disapproval of Poppers ideology is prominently seen here, as Popper so hastily disregards the theory of gravitation. Thagards approach states that a scientific theory is deemed a pseudoscience if it has been less progressive than lternate theories over a long period of time and thus solves many unsolved problems. [4] His thesis does not neglect experiments altogether. Accordingly a theory us only considered a pseudoscience if it is left to stagnate thus portraying minimal progression in comparison to alternatively proposed theories. When this is compared to Poppers idea of separation between science and pseudoscience, regardless if a theory is falsifiable Thagard implies that if progress is not made and it is left to degenerate it only then is namely a pseudoscience. Therefore we should ake newtons law of gravitation into consideration. Although there is little confirmation that gravity at all exists, the mere fact that it has made significant scientific progression and hence was later used as a foundation of other scientific manifestations. With reference to Thagards proposal, newtons law of gravitation is appraised a science. Evidently Poppers falsificationism criterion would have in fact delayed crucial scientific progression due to its strict paradigm as opposed to Thagards neglect of the intrinsic features of a theory. And hence promotes a more alsificationism as demarcation criterion. The history of science from Kuhns view paints a picture very different from that of positivists like Karl Popper, he criticises Poppers idea and states that his falsifiability criteria fails to characterise science as it is actually practice. Kuhns proposed thesis suggests that true scientific practice consists of puzzle solving with the current accepted theory, by contrast pseudoscience do not provide this framework for progressive research. There are more difference between Popper and Kuhns ideologies on the methods of alsificationism, where Popper argues that the hallmark of science is its decisive approach and thus always trying to falsify itself. Kuhn on the other hand asserts quite the opposite it is when everybody agrees on the basic theories that the scientific discovery will rise from the ground. For instance, Kuhn and Popper are critical of whether or not astrology is a science. From Poppers perspective it cannot be, since the claims astrologers present are very vague and nothing can be refuted. Kuhn on the other hand suggests that astrologers have actually acknowledged many ailed predictions and that these failures were much explained. The exact configuration of constantly moving stars and planets as well as the exact time of a persons birth is too difficult to calculate perfectly. [5] If this was viewed in a much simpler analogy, the factors that contribute to lung cancer are too complex to determine, that we cant actually predict with uttermost certainty that smoker will definitely get cancer, however it is still correct to say that smoking causes cancer and that medical studies of smoking and lung cancer are scientific. For that reason is its lear that Poppers demarcation of science and pseudoscience is not effective. Imre Lakatos attempted to explain Kuhns work in falsificationists terms by arguing that science progresses by the falsification of research programs rather than specific universal statements of naive falsification. In Lakatoss approach a scientists works in a research program which corresponds to Kuhns paradigm. Whereas Popper rejected the use of ad hoc hypothesis as scientific, Lakatos acknowledged their position in the development of new theories. Furthermore the discovery made by Thompson that all matter presents both wave and particle like features[6] is another scientific discovery that has created conflict between the views of Popper and Imre Lakatos. Light was always believed to delineate wave like characteristics, however when Thompson first revealed that in fact matter could exhibit both types of properties the original theory was considered a pseudoscience. The stringent standard of falsification does not allow for any error to occur within theories. In fact falsificationism does not question the reliability and validity of the experimental ethods and whether or not they were carried out correctly, but rather objects to the theory itself. Additonally if we were to examine Lakatoss proposal on the demarcation issue, he states that scientists do not give on a theory because some counter evidence is found. Instead either the evidence is put into question or the same ad hoc hypothesis is appealed to for rescue. [4] From Lakatos thesis of separation, Thompsons claim is considered a science for the reason that he not only made an ad hoc hypothesis but rather was able to further prove that light also xhibited particle features. All through his paddle wheel and Maltese cross experiments and wave like features thoroughly through the use of a magnetic field. proven false based on observation and experimentation indicates its inadequacy as a demarcation criterion as it does not adhere to the wave particle scientific theory. Poppers ideologies suggest that a theory is a pseudoscience if it cannot be refuted. The demarcation that separates the two sciences is built on a very distinctive basis for the remaining philosophers. Analysis of Newtonians ideas suggest that the latter iscoveries would have been delayed since there were many attempts to falsify Netwons theories. Which in turn would have belated the findings of Neptune and prevented the progression of the kinetic theory of gases. Consequently the establishment of the quantum theory would also have ceased to exist since the understanding of mechanics would have been disregarded had Poppers idea of falsificationism and demarcation were taken into account. All these scientific revelations have led to great inventions and further scientific advancements. The quantum theories through mathematical laws were in fact able to provide scientists he reasons for the way in which a black body radiates heat[6]. According to Popper the only way that science can advance is when one conjectures then another refutes. If there is no refute or it is considered insufficient then it is not taken into consideration as scientific progression. If this approach was to be followed a great deal of knowledge would be lost as Popper doesnt allow time for a theory to prove its accuracy. It is there evident that falsificationism is not adequate as a demarcation criterion. Scientists will go to great lengths to defend their paradigm against alsification, by the addition of ad hoc hypothesis to existing theories. Paul Thagard, Thomas Kuhn and Imre Lakatos are the strongest adversaries of the theory of falsificationism which provides the indication that there is still much philosophical work to be done on the demarcation between science and pseudoscience. Falsificationism is inadequate as a demarcation criterion as it hastily disregards theories presented without giving them the time to prove their validity. Also it has been criticised for disregarding Justifiable science and for giving pseudoscience the status of being science.

Organization and Management Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 2000 words
Organization and Management - Essay Example This paper compares two organizations in terms of their approaches to three aspects of organizational theories. The comparison will be based on their approach to teamwork and teamworking, organizational structure and design, and organizational culture. Comparison of approaches to teamwork and teamworking Public and private organizations have been similar in embracing the different organization theories. According to Robbins & Judge, (2010, p. 23) organizations have embraced the scientific management theory by trying to apply all the eleven principles of scientific management. Biogenic plc divides tasks and assigns workers that have skills in performing the specific task only. The organization emphasizes on assigning different tasks to workers according to their best ability and academic credentials. This can be referred to as division and specialization of labor. It’s the most common principle of management. Applying division and specialization of labor has been facilitated by the availability of knowledge and skills among the workers. This has enabled organizations to assign tasks to workers according to their skills and abilities. The bureaucracy theory developed by Max Weber is also applied in managing both public and private organizations. All the hierarchies are involved in decision making thus it takes a long time to approve an action. This is the case of Biogenic plc where teams are designed on the basis of their position in the hierarchy of management. The administrative theory as developed by Henry Fayol emphasizing the importance of the functions of management including planning, organizing, controlling, coordinating and commanding. Public and private organizations apply the functions of management in their daily operations. These organizations are structured around the five functions of management. The application of the principles of management has been promoted by the close relationship among the functions of management. However, Sleepeasy h as little application of the five principles of management which has led to the company lacking a team. Employees are hired on the basis of part-time and there are formal processes that make it difficult for managers to fulfill the principles of management. Comparison of organizational structure and design In an organization, workers are the most important between the system and workers. Classical organizational theories were centered on tasks rather than the human aspect of workers. Workers were viewed as parts of a machine that played a significant role in the running of the business. All the organizational theories aimed at finding the best way of managing resources especially human resources in order to improve their efficiency and effectiveness in the production process of the organization. The organization is in itself run by workers who operate machines or work manually.Â
